Dave,(1) The vast body of research pionting out that people can misuse information isn't new (even for the executives themselves, as you point out), so shock waves would be surprising(2) I'll buy the book, but does it really conclude that analyzing information is useless? Where do these great heuristics come from, unless it's through some form of information analysis (albeit encoded in DNA)?(3) I would have expected you to rip into the Newsweek article, rather than endorse it Didn't the parents just chose the one factor about doctors they cared about: whether doctors listened or not?. And when predicting drop-out rates, surely the only conclusion one can make is that they programmed a computer to do bad analysis, and then acted surprised when it was worse than the people? (4) Misuse of data is a real issue. One of the biggest solutions is other people: I'm personally excited about the possibility that Web 2.0 technologies, collective intelligence , and greater transparency, can help spot the failures of human analysis and decision-making. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develops applications, extract, load and transform data, and develops reports of high complexity consistent with report user specifications. 2. Researches and resolves report development requirements and issues of high complexity. 3. Supports and maintains the reporting universes, including contexts, aggregate awareness, and universe linking. 4. Leads analysis of reports and requirements with internal and external clients. 6.
